))
Barnes,
Aleksey:
Many thanks for sending me images of a lovely Alphonse Forgeron sidelock shotgun. As you note, it was made in 1926 in his shop at 4 A. Borgnet Street, Liege. He subcontracted the tube/barrel effort to Henri Joseph Cap of 62 Jonruelle Street, Liege. By 1932 Jean Falla had acquired the shop of Henri Joseph Cap. Falla was one of the best and I believe he was developing his skill at the Cap shop in 1926 when this sidelock was made. I suspect that Jean Falla may have married Henri Joseph Cap\'s daughter.
Without the client list of Skaba & Plökl Budapest, it will be very difficult to identify the original owner. I\'m not very familiar with the firearms merchant/retailer Skaba & Plökl but they would have had a affluent client in and around Budapest to place an order for the shotgun. Then Skaba & Plökl placed an order with Alphonse Forgeron of Liege, where he subcontracted some of the work to Henri Joseph Cap, a very skilled tube maker. I found a calendar or catalogue for Skaba & Plökl for 1934-1935 but let me search a bit more & closely examine the stock in question.
Thanks again for contacting me.
Kind Regards,
Raimey
